Being an activist

Being an activist

Having learned how to be an activist in Derry, I am now back living in the place I grew up in County Down and meeting more great people working tirelessly for progressive change in so many ways. The only reason I am not more involved is because I am an introvert and I struggle with making a contribution, often making the decision not to go to rallies or gatherings because I get overwhelmed. I am in the minority among sociable Irish activists in preferring online meetings!

Points

My vision is that groups and individuals who feel able to sign the Declaration for the Common Good also commit to exploring ways of connecting with each other, sharing stories, learning skills, understanding and valuing different perspectives and different ways of working. My vision is that we recognise that together we are the powerful dynamic movement needed for the challenges we are facing and that we deliberately set out to build alternative ways of working.
