Rights for Family Carers

Rights for Family Carers

We urgently need open, local public day, respite, dementia and intermediate care within the NHS so that family carers can have the right (right) to time off, to rest, and continue some sort of social life.

Points

Many elderly ill and disabled people could remain supported in their own homes (still with their own lives) if we support family carer more effectively. They must have the right (right) to several periods per year of overnight respite (or as suits) for the person for whom they care. That will give rest, security, better health, sleep, and perhaps the return of some social life.. impacting well on the care they give for the rest of the year. Less than this is shortsighted.
